User Experience (UX) Testing
Do you want to use digital resources to improve services to your customers?
A website on which navigation and layout are in harmony? To develop a new functionality that benefits user experience of the app? How user-friendly are your digital resources in reality?
Whether you want to develop a digital product from scratch or want to adapt an existing product, we can help you make choices on the basis of the experience and needs of your users. With the help of User Experience (UX) testing you will be guaranteed to find pointers to optimise your digital resources in a user-friendly way.
Which phase is your digital product in?
In each phase, Blauw can use UX testing to gain in-depth insights into: the concept itself (does the user understand what the concept is all about?), the wireframes (does the website work in the way you want it to?) or the usability (can users find what they were looking for easily, and have a positive experience?).
Important benefits that Blauw offers

The right tests, made to measure
For each research question, our Blauw experts advise on the most suitable study design. From in-depth, qualitative UX interviews to quantitative research (and everything in between), we obtain the most valuable insights with the right type of survey or test

We take the burden off your hands
Time and accuracy are at the heart of good UX testing. This is why we take the burden off your hands. We relieve you of all the responsibility and organisational tasks. This also applies to finding the right users for the survey.

A fresh pair of eyes, open and impartial
Our enthusiastic and empathetic Blauw experts are not part of your organisation, so they can take an impartial, open view and lend a sympathetic ear; one not troubled with a conflict of interests or one that makes assumptions, when performing UX tests.
Approach to UX testing
Do you seriously want to improve your digital concept or product? Then you'd be well advised not to make choices on the basis of a gut feeling, but on the basis of valuable user insights. How do you know which type of UX testing is the right one for your team? This is why we assess which phase your product or concept is in before going on to determine the approach to take, together. Within a week of starting the testing, you will already have received concrete pointers on how to improve your digital resources.
Do you want in-depth insight into the behaviour and motivation of your users? UX interviews can help you
A Blauw expert observes users while they are performing a task. Why? In order to be able to understand any problems that users face. Such as why the user has a problem with that one, particular functionality. The 'why' and the context of the user's behaviour and motivations is the key focus area during the UX interviews.
We generally conduct the UX interviews with around six - eight people from your target group, each in a 1-to-1 situation, in which we ask them to repeat, out loud, all the thoughts involved in the steps they take to perform a task. And our questions explore their behaviour further, so that we can come to in-depth insights. We can then use these insights to build a visual and pragmatic report, in which you can easily find pointers to improve your on-line services, a website or an app, for instance.
Do you want numerical data on user experience? Including the underlying motivations? UX Community testing offers you solutions
Perhaps you have one or more designs for a website or other digital resource in mind, or you're already at the design stage? If you put forward this idea to a research community, on-line or otherwise, you will open up the opportunity of selecting the most user-friendly version of the design, based on a combination of qualitative and quantitative insights. In so doing you will not only get a numerical insight into the preferences of users, but also into precisely why they think in a particular way. Furthermore, a community has an interactive character, in which members can actively contribute ideas. Valuable co-creation can be developed in this way.
At least fifty users are generally involved in a community study and Blauw will, of course, recruit them for you. During a design process we can also carry out various types of UX testing with your target group at the same time, or one after another. Consider the following: design or concept testing, on-line customer journey survey or website optimisation.
Do you want to optimise your navigation menu? Go for Tree testing
How user-friendly is your website's navigation menu? We give individual users specific assignments or tasks during a quantitative Tree test. In these tasks, users have to search for specific information via the navigation menu. How well do users manage to get to the right menu item? Where do they come up against problems? And what can you change about your menu categories, items or the structure in order to resolve this? Tree testing is carried out among a representative target group of at least 100 users.
Why Tree testing?
- You gain an insight into how users navigate through your menu, plus you receive concrete pointers for improving the navigation menu.
- You get an insight into how your menu structure both works and performs for users in a real-world scenario. Users have to complete tasks comparable with a usability test. You can evaluate the effectiveness of the menu on the basis of their performance.
- It is a reliable way of comparing the current menu structure with possible new variations on the menu. In this way you will know for sure that the new navigation menu works in a more user-friendly way, even before you publish it.
Working rapidly, together with users, on renewal
During a short-cycle process Blauw supports you, step for step, to involve users, to give them a voice and to make sure that voice is heard. During the development process we adopt the 'outside-in' role. Our Blauw experts work with a hands-on, agile approach and, preferably, we involve several different disciplines.
